In Joyland with Andy McKee
I like to pretend that Kansas-based guitarist Andy McKee is a jazz musician. Who, after all, wouldn't want to claim ownership of such a gifted and wildly popular cult artist. The embedded "Hunter's Moon" video has garnered 35,000 views in just three weeks. The song is available on McKee's forthcoming album Joyland.
--- All seventeen Plastic Sax readers should be advised that I'm taking a bit of a blogger's break. Plastic Sax will resume near the end of March.
I took guitar lessons from Andy at Steam Music in Topeka for a year before switching to bass, and he remained one of my bass teachers for the rest of my time in Kansas. He is an incredible musician and a beautiful soul and I have been following his career since he won 3rd place in the Winfield Finger style Championship. I am soooo glad to see him getting the recognition he deserves. He has been a huge inspiration for me and every time I show someone his music they are completely blown away. Thanks for posting this! You made my day, Ben Leifer
finally was able to view this on my home computer and was enthralled. immediately went to itunes and downloaded the entire cd... which includes 4 videos, including Hunter's Moon. very cool. thanks for posting, happy! - mike t.
I occasionally consider signing up for an "affiliate" program with vendors, Mike T. That way I would have make a few cents when you purchased McKee. I always decide, however, to keep Plastic Sax "pure."
