The New Red Onion Jazz Babies

The New Red Onion Jazz Babies have been gigging around Kansas City since before a teenage Plastic Sax had even heard of Bix Beiderbecke. This live footage was captured at Jardine's earlier this week. It reminds me that I don't listen to nearly enough Dixieland. What a joyous sound! Download six free MP3s from the band's site, or better still, catch one of their regular performances.

Agreed (on TNROJB and Dixieland n general). You can see why Woody Allen has kept a hand in it all these years.

My late great friend Ed Harvey loved these guys and went to their regular gig at Bristols when it was still located on The Plaza. I tagged along a few times and always had a wonderful time getting tipsy to their infectious groove.

I should get out more but there are bad people on the lookout for me.

I was about ten when I first visited New Orleans. My dad took me to see Al Hirt and to Preservation Hall. Yet it was the strip joints and the raw oysters that made the biggest impression on me.

This is the wrong place to share this weird tidbit, BGO, but... You played a prominent role in a dream I had a few nights ago. Get this- the two of us were being chased by bad guys.

HIB,

At least I am not superstitious so I feel as if we both are safe.

However, my invading your dreams does have me a little spooked ;)
