Now's the Time: Brian Culbertson
The new season of the American Jazz Museum’s Jammin’ at the Gem series kicks off Saturday, January 24, with a concert by Brian Culbertson. You can tell Culbertson is “killing” by the way he ”lays back”.

LOL the "laying back" video. In jazz performance you see that a lot with trumpet players. Hmm... maybe they just have lower back pain ;)
LOL ... Almost as good as the sax/trumpet/trombone player squat used by players to let the audience of other musicians know how Mark Turner-like they really are ... jk of course ... Peace, Cb
But, seriously, the folks who like smooth and contemporary jazz really eat up the showmanship aspect of it as much as they like anything about the music ...
I don't know if it is about "liking" or "not liking" smooth and contemporary jazz, really. It is making fun of ourselves as musicians in this context. Don't we ALL take ourselves too seriously much of the time? I think we do our fair share of "laying back" to our audiences ... ;)

The joke's on me. I genuinely like a lot of smooth jazz.
